Josephine will be running a BCU 2 star course starting on Saturday 30 May and finishing July 8th.
The course is aimed at beginners and intermediate paddlers, who wish to progress rapidly so that they are confident on the Thames with a sound repertoire of paddle strokes to take them onto the next level ie moving water and white-water.
We will work through the new BCU syllabus (click for link) for this award, and probably also work on some 3 star strokes since they are much the same, although 3 star is examined on different water.
The idea is that everyone who signs up for the course should do 3 pool sessions and 4 Thames sessions, plus an open canoe session (see suggested dates below). Please note that it is obligatory to do a canoe session to get the award, so we go to Whitewater the Canoe Centre lake at Shepperton to do that.
Cost £30, excluding pool sessions ( 3-4 at £5 per session), but including Thames paddling fees, all boat and kit hire (including hire of canoes at Shepperton). You must also be members of PBCC.
A minimum of 4 people are needed for this course, with a maximum of 8.
Josephine has been a member of the club for several years and is a fully qualified Level 2 coach -- if you are uncertain if this course is suitable for you, or cannot make some of these dates, just give her a ring and she will be happy to discuss it with you.
