North Wales 10-11 April white water trip
This has the possibility of being good for both beginner paddlers and experienced whitewater enthusiasts. For beginners the Dee has sections which are just as easy as the tidal Thames , more scenic, and cleaner water. For the experts (not me since swimming last w/e) if there is enough water this is a superb area, and if no rain then there is plenty to play on with either the Treweryn or even the Dee. We can tailor the w/e according to who signs up, hopefully two groups paddling easy and ‘more interesting’ grades. contact Adrian for more details and to sign up
| Thames - Greenwich to Grays 23rd May A trip is planned on the Thames from Greenwich to Grays and back.
The total distance is about thirty miles. The tides on 23rd May are favourable and so far Adrian, George and I can paddle on that day. It's a long distance paddle and there are few, if any, get-outs along the way, so sea kayaks are the only option for this trip. Plus, paddlers will have to have done a couple of trips to Tower Bridge and back and found the distance easy to manage. Conditions will be variable with high speed boat wash and chop, and strong headwinds to contend with if it's windy. The shipping traffic will require careful navigation and group awareness.
Send me an email if you are interested. I have booked the Avocet sea kayak, but the Weekender and Capella are still available to suitable people at the moment. I am planning to do a sequel journey from Grays down to the estuary later in the year.
