There will be a PBCC BBQ on Saturday 8th July in the early evening, in David’s front garden overlooking the river by Chiswick Eyot. Most people will paddle in groups to and from the lockup in Barn Elms, but it’s also fine if you want to come by land. You must book a place below to attend.
High tide is at 19:08, so the aim will be for paddlers to arrive at about this time and to leave the boats at the draw dock which is 200m upriver, locking them together. Anyone paddling their own precious boat can bring it and put it in the front or back garden. Sunset is at 9:20 pm, so please bring lights if you are paddling. If you are paddling, please be at the lockup at about 5:00pm, ready to get on the water by 6pm latest. There may be an option for a longer paddle further upriver for those who want to work up more of an appetite. Because of the numbers, some more experienced paddlers may need to go in dancers or slower boats. There will be chains to lock up the boats at the eyot. Remember lights!
John Richards has kindly agreed to prepare and cook the meat / veggie burgers etc. He’s intending to make beef burgers and buy sausages for meat eaters and provide some alternatives for vegetarians. We will provide beer, wine, lager, water and soft drinks but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
We’d like a few volunteers (not everyone!) to bring salads and desserts. I guess a salad or dessert should be for 5 or 6 people. Also, remember it has to go into your boat, so pears in red wine served in your best cut glass crystal bowl may be a tad risky, but up to you! If you are bringing something, please enter it in the form when booking.
