Wales whitewater Weekend

Trips - White water

Devon, North and South Wales are popular venues for PBCC whitewater trips. Accomodation is generally using bunkhouses or camping.

Whatever your ability, we always make it a wet and fun weekend.

See the Events page for forthcoming venue and dates. White water rivers are graded, see link for more information. >>  White water river grades

Access to whitewater trips and the hire of equipment is only open to paid up members.

What do I need to go on a white water/surf trip?

Most whitewater kayaking in the UK is done during the colder months so some warm clothing is essential. Below is a list of useful stuff, though it is worth asking the trip organiser if there is anything specific needed.

- Wetsuit or dry suit
- Dry cag/Spray top
- Wicking T-shirt, thermal tops
- post paddling clothes and towel (not all your time will be in a boat)
- A 'dry bag' to put spare clothes, snacks, car keys etc
- Some snacks and a hot drink for on the water
- Nose clip; if you like to use one

Key Equipment you can hire from the club:

  1. Canoe/kayak
  2. Spraydeck
  3. Buoyancy aid/BA
  4. Paddle
  5. Helmet

Any of the following is also useful:

- Pogies (nylon or neoprene mittens) or Neoprene gloves
- A stainless steel flask
- Scull cap; neoprene or similar to keep your head warm
- Ear-plugs to keep cold water out of your ears (specialist ones for kayaking can be bought from The White Water Canoe Center ).
