Time: 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

The pool is not just for those who wish to join the club, it is there for members to improve strokes and to practice rescues, as well as being a social club activity.
The pool session is on every Wednesday throughout the year. The training takes place at the Phoenix Fitness Centre & Janet Adegoke Swimming Pool, Bloemfontein Rd, London W12 7DB. This has off street paid parking, but you can also park for free on the street outside (hide valuables and bags from sight). There are cycle stands at the centre and there are a number of tube stations within 10-15 minutes walk, White City, Wood Lane, Shepherd’s Bush market and East Acton. The 283 Bus goes past the entrance.
You should arrive at 1930 and come into the centre to get changed and move to the poolside to prepare. Most people wear normal swimming clothes and a tee shirt. The pool is quite warm and kayaking clothing is likely to be too hot. Some people like to use swim goggles for rolling practice. Wearing neoprene beach shoes can be helpful to protect the feet, but most people don’t. You will need a 30p token for the locker. This is not returnable, The tokens can be obtained from a machine but can be bought with a card. The reception staff in the entrance will guide you through to the changing room.
Poolside you will collect a boat, paddle and spray deck (to keep the water out of the boat). It is not necessary to wear a buoyancy aid in the pool, although on the river you will always wear one. It is worth taking care to ensure the boat is a good fit and that you are comfortable. Please ask one of the instructors to help if you have any difficulty or are not sure. We have two left handed paddles so if you need one please ask.
